Constellation?

I'm doing a project in constellations and the goal is to develop your own constellation using the existing sky and stars. Does anybody know how to do this? Do you have ideas of your own?|||Well, if you look at the existing constellations, you'll see that they're groups of individual stars that have been joined up to make simple pictures in the sky. So, your assignment is to take the stars in the sky that you can see, and join some of them together to make your own simple picture of an animal or other object. A bit like seeing shapes in the clouds.

Sign up to this sky chart, and set it for your city and date:

It would help to know where you are so I can give good examples. Assuming you're in the US, I'll use Leo. If you're in the southern hemisphere like me, it looks upside-down, so it's not the best one.

Anyway, set the chart for a time, and see where Leo is on the chart. Then go outside at that time and find Leo in the same part of the sky that you see it on the chart. If you find it, you'll see that it's made up of bright to moderately bright stars, and that the shape does indicate a crouching lion.

The idea for you is to do something similar. Find a grouping of not-too-difficult stars, over a moderate area of the sky, and see if they suggest any shape. Then give it a name. Try to be imaginative. Don't find a group of four stars in a rectangle and call it "Dishwasher Major".|||play connect the dots with a starchart.|||you don't even have to try really.. as he said, have you seen some of the constelations? lol... like connect a string of stars together and draw a scimitar around it and there you go, you got a sword constelation...
